Amanda Mays is the founder and creator of Pineapple Yoga. She shares her story of saying fuck "it all" to her lifelong dream of being an advertising executive - like her late mother - to instead lead a life of service and purpose as a yoga teacher. Yeah, leaving the city and salary wasn't easy, but damn, has it been worth it.
Amanda lost her mother when she was in high school, and in experiencing such a large and traumatic loss so early, she learned that we only have one life. The best way to honor her mother was not to live her life - also an advertising executive - but rather to live her own boldly.
Amanda shared her perspective that, "vulnerability and connection come from shared experiences. So I'm just trying to use my life in a way that best serves those around me."
By the end of this episode Amanda had me signing up for Pineapple Yoga and also scheduling her grandmother - Naunnie - as a guest on the show.
Do yourself a favor and listen to these next two episodes; they are a gift of cross-generation modern women full of intuition, strength and authenticity.
